LITTLE HENRY AND VERY DIFFICULT DIAGNOSIS
In June, when Henio was 4 months old, we noticed a difference in the size of his pupils. Fearing a neurological cause, we took him to the emergency room, where basic tests were performed. Thankfully, it turned out to be nothing serious, but we received a second, devastating diagnosis – a lesion (tumor) was detected in the left temporal lobe of Henio’s brain.
Today, after three hospital stays and several diagnostic tests (MRI, EEG, DSV), we know that we are dealing with a vascular lesion – most likely an arteriovenous malformation (AVM) with visible bleeding.
The next stage involves invasive tests that will determine exactly what type of lesion it is, how it is structured, and what treatment will be necessary. We already know that Henry will need either open-brain surgery or several less invasive procedures (in which a tiny device is inserted through the femoral artery and guided to the affected area to treat it).
We are under the care of a foundation that is helping us find the best possible doctors (mainly in Germany), because, unfortunately in Poland, due to equipment limitations, treatment of such brain lesions carries significant risk.
We are currently consulting with two clinics in Germany that have state-of-the-art equipment and highly experienced specialists in treating this type of condition. Sadly, we will have to cover the cost of treatment abroad ourselves.

We truly believe that because the lesion was discovered early, Henry can be completely cured without any neurological damage — and that he will be able to live the happy, full life every child deserves. But to make that happen, we need to act quickly and decisively.
Please imagine a joyful little boy, playing happily, suddenly collapsing and suffering a stroke with life-altering consequences. That could still be our worst-case scenario. That’s why we don’t have much time.
