LITTLE HENRY AND VERY DIFFICULT DIAGNOSIS
Four months ago, we noticed a difference in the size of Henry’s pupils.
Fearing a neurological issue, we took him to the hospital emergency department, where he underwent basic tests. Thankfully, it turned out not to be anything immediately serious — but we received another, devastating diagnosis: in Henry’s left temporal lobe, doctors found a lesion (a tumor).
After two hospital stays and several diagnostic tests (MRI, EEG), we now know that it’s a vascular lesion — most likely an arteriovenous malformation (AVM) with visible bleeding. The next stage will take place in January, with further examinations to determine exactly what kind of malformation it is, how it progresses, and what treatment will be necessary. We already know that Henry will need either open-brain surgery or several less invasive procedures (in which a tiny device is inserted through the femoral artery and guided to the affected area to treat it).
We are under the care of a foundation that is helping us find the best doctors — mainly in Germany — because, unfortunately, due to equipment limitations, treatment for such brain conditions in Poland carries a high level of risk.
We are currently consulting with two clinics in Germany that have the best available technology and highly experienced specialists in treating this type of condition. Sadly, treatment abroad will have to be paid for out of our own pocket.

We truly believe that because the lesion was discovered early, Henry can be completely cured without any neurological damage — and that he will be able to live the happy, full life every child deserves. But to make that happen, we need to act quickly and decisively.
Please imagine a joyful little boy, playing happily, suddenly collapsing and suffering a stroke with life-altering consequences. That could still be our worst-case scenario. That’s why we don’t have much time.
