HELP FOR NATALIA
Natalia is two years old. She has Leigh’s syndrome, a rare genetic mitochondrial disease – a rapidly progressive degenerative disease of the central nervous system. As a result of this disease Natalia is struggling with high general flaccidity, impaired psychomotor and speech development and balance disorder. Natalia does not walk and does not talk much. Despite the deficits caused by the disease, Natalia is a cheerful little girl curious of the world around her.
Leigh’s disease is incurable. Natalia’s comfort of life is supported by broadly understood therapy as well as a properly adjusted diet and supplementation. Natalia is under the care of many specialists including: rare/metabolic disease specialists, cardiologist, neurologist, dietitian, orthoptist, ophthalmologist, physiotherapist, speech therapist and psychologist.
