SURGERY FOR WHICH I WAITED MY WHOLE LIFE…

His history:

My name is Mateusz, I was born 18 years ago with birth defect of the spine, spina bifida and large-size hyperkyphosis. When my mom was 6 months pregnant she knew that her baby would born really ill. The doctors said that I wouldn’t speak, walk and my life would end really fast after birth. My mom didn’t give up and she has been started the fight for my life. She gave birth me at “Instytut Centrum Zdrowia Matki Polki” hospital in Łódź. Few hours after birth the operation of the spina bifida was done, unfortunately the postoperative wound broken and necrosic came. Because of hydrocephaly the doctors placed rickham reservoir, which was still punctured to remove a surplus of fluid.

Finally, the doctors were able to made my wound heal and they performed surgery of the implantation of ventriculo-peritoneal valve which I still have.Nowedays I am paralised and move in a wheelchair. I still remember my mom asked the orthopedist about the stabilization of my spine but they answered it will be possible when I stop grown and the deformated spine will be life-threatening. I didn’t realized what will happend. I was growing and part of my spine couldn’t carry mu body and started to collapse and bend.

When I was at primary school my spine wound “opened” second time. At first it healed quite good and I and mom thought it was nothing dangerous just chafe. In that time my dad died bocouse of the stomach cancer. I was contiouing my education and whit it visits at surgical clinics, dressings, antibiotics, ointments. At that time it helped and my wound healed.

When I was was at high school the wound stopped to heal, infections became stronger, antibiotics insted of helped – started dameged. What is more, I had often blader infections which impeded treatment. Finally, I was admitted to the hospital and I spent there one month. My treatmend was run by brunch nurse. The local neurosurgeon after CT of the spine I was classified to the surgery. He didn’t want to explain antything. My mom asked: “Why don’t you do MR?” and he answered: “There’s no need, there is nothing to ruin because there is nothing”. After that my mom didn’t agree for the surgery. Her decision was motiveded by lack of MR and the risk of the damege of spina cord.

During the staying at the hospital we knew from one of mothers there is a chance to treatment abroad. We found parents who children were operated in the USA. We sow what the treatmend schould be like. I got back home, to the school also to surgical clinics with my big wound on my bags and I was infected with hosptital bacteria. Mom started to be scarry of the doctors, because the hurted me instead of help. We found information about american doctors who work in Otwock. I got there to the orthopedis. He did MR and I had neurological consultation. I was disqualified because of a aadvanced infetion, they couldn’t help me with my wound,they refused to write letter to Shiners Hospitals in Chicago. I hadn’t chance to have a consultation at americans doctors.I can only wait for death

In the meantime the infection of wound and bladder got stronger, I lose my immunity, Ifelt worse but my mom did’t gave up and was looking for any help. She posted my medical documents to Schiners Hospitals in Chicago but I was disqualified second time bocouse of the infection. Finally we found Irena Paruze, the specialist of Hirudo medicinalis. She live near Wrocław, 350 km form my place. That treatment helped, the wound healed but it is really sensitive. Any pressure or abrasion, or even the use of Octanisept, causes redness and re-opening of the wound
