If we don’t act now, the defect will worsen and our little daughter will never be able to walk. We kindly ask for urgent help!
Elenka came into the world as the fulfillment of our dream of having a big family. Throughout the entire pregnancy, we lived with the belief that everything was fine. Prenatal tests showed no abnormalities. Nothing prepared us for what we heard after her birth…
For the first few days, we still held on to hope that everything would be okay. It wasn’t until the third day after her birth, when Elenka was examined by a specialist, that we heard the diagnosis that changed everything. It struck us like a blow – CDF (Congenital Femoral Deficiency).
This congenital underdevelopment of the femur has caused one of Elenka’s legs to be significantly shorter than the other. This was supposed to be the most beautiful moment of our lives, but instead it brought fear, tears, and hundreds of unanswered questions. The difference between her right and left leg is already 5.5 cm, and doctors warn that if we do not begin treatment, it could reach as much as 30 cm in the future.
Elenka is only five months old, and her life already looks different from that of healthy children. With each passing month, the difference in the length of her legs may increase. Without treatment, our daughter may never walk independently. Elenka is already under the care of specialists from the Paley European Institute, who have developed a treatment plan. The doctors have no doubt – her only chance lies in complex, multi-stage limb lengthening surgeries and years of intensive rehabilitation.
We attend physiotherapy sessions three times a week and exercise with her four times a day at home. We are doing everything in our power to support our daughter’s development and give her a chance at mobility. Despite this,
we know that rehabilitation alone is not enough. As many as four surgeries have been planned, and the cost of one is approximately 200,000 PLN. The total cost of treatment is enormous – far beyond our means. Time is not on our daughter’s side.
We look at Elenka as she smiles and carefree waves her little hands. She does not yet know how difficult the road ahead of her will be. But we do – and that is why we are asking for help. We beg you, please help us fight for our daughter’s future. Every donation, every share brings us one step closer to the day when Elenka will be able to stand on her own legs and take her first step.
